Attack patterns
Enemies don't attack at random — they use a set of recurring moves. Each move has a recognisable tell: a wind-up, a sound, a movement. Once you learn them, you start reacting ahead of time.

Tips and mechanics
Hard games feel unfair until you understand their rules. Almost every tough fight is built from a few recurring mechanics: enemy attacks follow patterns, dodging gives you brief protection, actions drain stamina, and a mistake sends you back to the last checkpoint. In this section we explain these mechanics in general terms, break a boss fight down step by step, and remind you about difficulty settings and online game rules.
A boss that seems unbeatable usually just hasn't been read yet. Every failed attempt adds a line to its description.
How this section works: we describe mechanics in general terms and don't give exact numbers — damage, durations, frames. They vary from game to game and change with patches. For the specifics of a particular game, check its menus, tutorial and official materials.
Six mechanics you'll find in most hard games.

In many games your character is briefly invulnerable at the start of a roll or dash. It pays to dodge as the hit lands, not too early.
Attacks, blocks, sprinting and dodging all drain stamina. Run out completely and your character is left vulnerable. Always keep some in reserve for a dodge.
After a defeat the game sends you back to the last save point. Remember where it is and don't take needless risks on the way back.
Games raise the bar gradually: new enemies test what earlier ones taught you. If things suddenly get too hard, it may be worth going back to practise a basic technique.
In some games you can tackle a hard section with other players or with an AI-controlled helper. That's a legitimate part of the game, not cheating.
Don't try to win. Keep your distance and watch which attacks the enemy has and how they start.
Work out which attacks deal the most damage and which are the hardest to dodge. Those are the ones to figure out first.
Many moves have a recovery moment when the enemy is open. Strike then, not at the first chance you get.
If the boss freezes after a combo, that's your window to attack.
Don't spend all your stamina on attacking. Keep some for dodging the next move.
Many bosses change behaviour during the fight. If the enemy starts acting differently, go back to observing.
If the path from the checkpoint to the boss is long and dangerous, practise it separately or find a way to run through faster so you don't waste resources before the fight.
